Situated where the Valley Colliery once stood we now have over 30 acres of green space on the edge of Cannock Chase. Today the hills form one of the last remaining areas of heathland in Britain.

The library is open by appointment only.

The museum has five formal display galleries. The Local History Gallery - Tracing the Chase, The Miner's Cottage - depicting life at the turn of the twentieth century, Toys and Games Past and Present - Relive your childhood memories in our Toys gallery, Seven Centuries of Coal - find out about Cannock's industrial heritage, The 1940s Room - domestic life during the Second World War. In addition to these, a temporary exhibition programme runs throughout the year offering visitors the opportunity to see objects from the museum's reserve collections as well as those from other museums and private collections.

Wild about Staffordshire Exhibition

Artists and photographers are invited to submit artworks for this exhibition which are inspired by the landscapes, flora and fauna of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust reserves.
All types of visual art are welcomed, including painting, drawing, photography, textiles and 3D works. Contact the museum for submission dates and an entry form.

Join us as we explore their fabulous new Christmas books and find all about their writing, accompanied by a delicious hot drink and a mince pie. All three authors will talk about their journey into writing and what inspires them, as well as sharing some funny stories along the way!

The authors will be selling their books on the day, or bring your own books to be signed. Perfect for Christmas gifts!
