Brooklands was the first purpose-built motor racing circuit in the world in 1907. It was also one of the most prolific aircraft production sites in Europe, with over 18,500 aircraft built or assembled at Brooklands by companies such as Vickers, Hawker, BAC and British Aerospace.

The Sunbeam Cafe is open all day during normal Museum opening hours. Hot lunches are served and a fine selection of teas and cakes throughout the day.

Our library is open to the public by appointment only.

The 30 acre Museum site displays a wide range of Brooklands- related motoring and aviation exhibits reflecting many great engineering and technological acievements throughout the 20th Century. These range from the 1933, 24-litre Napier-Railton racing car to a Wellington Bomber recovered from Loch Ness; a unique collection of Vickers/BAC-built aircraft and the only Concorde publically accessible in the South East. The Motoring Village also displays Brooklands record braking and Grand Prix cars, racing motorcycles and bicycles.

John Reaks F1 Benetton at Brooklands Autumn Motorsport Day 2013

Autumn Motorsport Day

  • 13 October 2019 10am-5pm

Now a firm fixture in the motoring calendar, visitors to Autumn Motorsport Day get a double helping of action.

Competition cars from all ages will be put through their paces on the adjacent Mercedes-Benz World circuit and later in the day Test Hill will be in action. Expect to see a wide variety of competition cars from Formula 1, F5000 and GTs to touring cars and Group B rally cars. As ever, spectators will have the rare opportunity to see and hear competition cars at close quarters. All competition and classic cars welcome through the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road with public parking in The Heights off Wellington Way.

As well as the spectacular displays in the Paddock and around the site, there will be the chance to see some of these machines put through their paces as they tackle the off-road circuit at Mercedes-Benz World.

Brooklands Aviation Day

  • 22 September 2019 10am-5pm

This promises to be a day like no other at the Museum - the emphasis is towards the skies as we dedicate the whole site to Brooklands’ rich and varied connection with all things aviation.

The Museum’s aircraft and cockpits will be open for visitors to explore, and outside the Bellman Hangar, there will even be a chance to see and hear some of the early aircraft in action.

Over by the Shell Pagoda youngsters under 5 will be able to ride pedal-driven model aeroplanes and the Museum’s Learning Team will be laying on everything needed in a fantastic aviation themed workshop for youngsters.

London Bus Museum Transportfest

  • 20 October 2019 10am-5pm

Transportfest returns in 2018 with extensive bus displays, including rarely-seen early examples, and smaller displays of taxis, commercials, military & emergency vehicles.

There will be heritage bus trips, a large collectors’ market, live music and children’s attractions. This event is not just for transport enthusiasts, but fun for all the family as well

Two 45 minute sessions run from 10.30-11.15 and 11.30-12.15 in the Art gallery (next to the Sunbeam cafe)

Mini Aces club brings the Museum to life through stories, craft, song and dance. With a focus on different objects, stories and exhibits each month, children will discover the treasures we have in our collection and build self-confidence in a new and exciting environment.

Please book in advance, sessions are limited to 10 children max
