The work of the Irish artist Derek Shiel is the subject of the first exhibition to open at the Estorick Collection in North London since it was named the 'best museum of fine or applied art' in the Museum of the Year Awards for 1999.

The Art of Noises is 12 sound sculptures by Shiel, artist in residence in the gallery until the exhibition finished on March 5.

The Estorick is devoted to modern Italian art, and the silvered found objects chosen by Shiel for their percussive qualities link with the work of the Italian futurist composer and painter Luigi Russolo.
