Exhibition: Walking in my Shoes, Cuming Museum, Southwark

As part of the Cultural Olympiad’s Stories of the World programme, the first event from the campaign to take place in Southwark focuses on footwear from around the world.

Starring 50 pairs of shoes from the museum collection it also features contemporary designs by a group of local young people together with pictures of shoes submitted via a special Flickr group.

Highlights from the vaults include the wedding shoes worn by a Camberwell woman on her big day in 1893 and silk shoes which belonged to the Duchess of Malborough, who was one of the richest women in Europe at the start of the 18th century.
