Bridge Cottage is a medieval ‘Wealden’ hall house built around 1436.

In 1983, Bridge Cottage was saved from demolition by the Uckfield & District Preservation Society and Uckfield Town Council.

Thanks to a grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund, Bridge Cottage has now been restored to its former glory and today looks much as it would have done in the 1600s.

The goal of the heritage centre, newly open for 2016, is to enable visitors to learn about their heritage through events and activities while providing a unique community facility in the heart of town.
