Birmingham Assay Office


Founded by an Act of Parliament in 1773, The Birmingham Assay Office houses a spectacular collection of historic silver and jewellery and a library containing many rare historic books on Hallmarking, jewellery, precious metals, science and art. Organised groups can visit the collection and library most weeks of the year through our Silver Visits. Members of the public can visit the collection and library on designated days that take place throughout the year.

Admission charges

Organised groups (up to 25 people per visit) £10 per person, members of the public and small groups on designated days £12 per person. Advance booking for all visits is essential.
