Pastel Society

20/20 Vision

  • 19 January — 29 February 2020

Leicestershire Pastel Society was started by Norman Sims in 1999 and has held an annual exhibition every year since. The pastel medium is one of the oldest mediums used by man. It consists simply of soft coloured powder mixed into a dough with water and formed into sticks. It requires a rough textured surface to grip the pigment and hold it in place. Members use a range of dry media including pastel, oil pastel, pencil and charcoal.

Glitch

  • 6 June — 27 July 2019 *on now

Finding inspiration in the digital and the natural world, Matthieu Leger presents us with oil paintings that collide and merge both environments together. In doing so, he creates a new realm where the digital and the natural co-exist in figurative representations, broken digital abstractions and explosions of colour.

Wanderings

  • 24 October — 21 November 2019

As a young child exploring Thorpe moors, Loughborough, Jane became interested in painting, drawing and natural history. Charnwood forest, Beacon Hill, The Outwoods and other places inspire Jane's landscape paintings. On countryside walks, orange-tip butterflies, green woodpeckers, bluebells, oak trees and rushing streams have been a few of the beautiful sights Jane has seen. Illustrations of some of these experiences and places may be found in her recently published book, Wanderings on the Wild Side.
