The Museum will be re-opening on Saturday 20 October.

The Roald Dahl Museum is a great little family Museum, situated in Great Missenden, the Buckinghamshire village where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years.

The Museum, aimed at 6 to 12 year olds, features three hands-on galleries and is home to the Roald Dahl archive. Boy gallery looks at Roald Dahl's school days while Solo gallery houses his original Writing Hut. The Story Centre puts your imagination centre-stage with fantabulous Roald Dahl workshops and events to inspire the writer in you.

Twits’ Optical Tricks

Dazzle your eyes with artist Ruby Runnalls Palmer as you make your own cube of optical illusions with collage, paint, drawing and colouring, inspired by The Twits. Great for your whole family to get involved with - even the adults.

The Chilterns

Guided Countryside Trail

There's limited space on the trails, so do book in advance to avoid disappointment. Bring comfortable shoes and a sense of adventure - some paths on the Countryside Trail might get muddy. Please note, no dogs are allowed on the walk.

This event is run in conjunction with the Chilterns Walking Festival.

The walk is great for adults and kids. The walk will take about 45 minutes to an hour over uneven ground, worth bearing in mind for little legs.

Twizzling Tricks for Budding Illustrators

Join Matt Buckingham for this inspiring illustration and story ideas workshop. You’ll get topsy tips as you take part in games and learn the tricks of the drawing board to make a crodswolloping creation.

There will be something for everyone, whatever your talent level as Matt will help to liberate your inner artist! Maybe you’ll come up with a new trick to fool Mr Twit or to get Granny to take George’s medicine…

Wonka’s Wondercrump Contraptions

Roald Dahl loved mischievous machines. Find out about the tricks he played with his Meccano set as a boy, and hear about some of the curious contraptions in his books. Then make your own junk-modelled contraption – which tricks will yours play?

How many Roald Dahl stories can you think of where there’s a crodswoggling critter hiding? There are plenty waiting to make mischief! Join us to make your own selection of clay creatures that you can play tricks with at home.

We use air drying clay so you can take your creation home with you, and we'll provide something to wear so you can keep your clothes clean - phew!
