The Shuttleworth Collection - where everything flies or drives!
The Collection is home to an exciting array of vintage aircraft from the early days of aviation up until the 1950s. We also hold an interesting selection of mostly Edwardian cars and buggies, classic motorcycles and early bicycles.

Airshows run throughout May – October, where you can enjoy seeing aircraft from the Collection take to the skies in addition to visiting aircraft and ground entertainment.

Adjacent to the Collection is an extensive picturesque Regency Swiss Garden, with delightful surprises and vistas revealed at every turn. Recently having benefited from a £3.5m restoration, it shouldn’t be missed!

We also have The House, which was was built in 1875, designed by the prominent Victorian architect Henry Clutton. It’s situatated in 500 acres of beautiful parkland. Today it is a popular venue for weddings, conferences and as a filming location for period dramas.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi in The Swiss Garden

  • 10 May 2019 10-11:30am

In the delightful and classical tree populated environment of the Swiss Garden these exercises connect with traditional Chinese ideas about the natural development of Chi, leading to a quietly energised state of relaxation. Tai Chi originated in the early 1600s – synthesised by the Chen family from ages old precursors of health and wellbeing combined with exercises from martial arts.

It is excellent for people of all ages promoting as it does good posture, good balance and good health for all, while providing a pathway to more dynamic exercise if that is your interest. Ian is a 21st generation teacher of the Chen style Tai Chi lineage, who has studied in the UK and China – his classes at Shuttleworth are suited to beginners with no experience at all and to those who may wish to return to their study of Tai Chi – or simply to experience a different approach.

Please wear comfortable loose clothing and bring drinking water with you if possible.

Evening Airshow

May Evening Airshow

  • 18 May 2019 12-9pm

Classic flying evenings at Shuttleworth have a relaxed atmosphere, and are where the light can be at its best to see the Edwardian aircraft if the weather is calm and favourable enough for these incredible aircraft to take to the skies. This unique collection of aircraft from the early and pioneering years of aviation are quite unlike any found anywhere else in the UK and really have to be seen flying!

With typical evening summer light excellent for photography, on site refreshments will be available including a bar. There’s a free Swiss Garden tour available and our vintage buses will be running for free passenger rides. Enjoy ‘Uncovered’ before the flying display begins, and get up close to a selection of our aircraft on the airfield during the public access period.

Take advantage of the lovely summer weather to stay over at Shuttleworth’s camping and caravan facilities, and enjoy a whole weekend of entertainment with discounted entry to The Collection and Swiss Garden on non-event days.
