Between October 2021 and April 2022, we were commissioned to set up and facilitate the Europeana Initiative’s Digital Transformation Task Force. We worked with the taskforce representatives to create a Guide to Digital Transformation in Cultural Heritage across Europe
Through research, focus groups and workshops it was clear that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for digital transformation. It will only happen in response to various individual and organisational contexts.
The Digital Transformation Guide sets out three recommendations to help frame an approach to digital transformation that can be adopted and adapted by any cultural organisation in Europe:
- Language and approach: share a common language and approach to all aspects of digital transformation, as set out by the Digital Transformation Guide, personally, in organisations and in networks.
- Mindset and culture: create optimum conditions for change through a mindset and culture that is open to learning and collaboration on all levels and in all contexts; recognises the importance of people-centred practice and emotional skills and intelligence and takes a holistic approach to digital transformation.
- Purpose and values: ensure that digital transformation is purposeful and values-driven
You can read and download the full Guide here, on Europeana’s website. You can also find the context for the Guide in this report, which sets out the thinking behind it and the research and work carried out by the Task Force that led to its creation.
