Art in York Minster
Over 15 of the region’s most talented artists display personal works inspired by York Minster. The artists include Jake Atree, whose work has been exhibited in London, New York and Germany. On the evening of 7th June at 7.30pm, the paintings will be auctioned in the North Transept to raise money for the conservation and restoration of York Minster. Family Art Day: 'Meeting the Kings'
Join Artist Jake Attree for a fun-filled workshop exploring the Kings Screen. The session will include an introduction to the artist’s own work, followed by sketching time at the Kings Screen to then develop into your own life sized King! All materials will be provided.
As well as being a full time professional painter, Jake has worked extensively with a wide range of groups of people of all ages and abilities, from degree courses to primary schools. His aim with the family art day is that participants have a rich and enjoyable experience and leave feeling they can draw a little better than when they arrived.
£5 per participant. Normal admission charges apply. Ages 7+. Children to be accompanied by an adult.

A brand new Festival which showcases the astonishing range and versatility of this giant instrument – if you thought you knew what an organ sounded like, think again! York Minster own musicians, featuring some of the country’s top young performers, and guests perform entertaining and popular tunes perfect for promenading. Performing within the Nave itself, you can see the organist in action and even ask questions.
Music connoisseurs can also hear the Organ in special evening recitals on Summer Saturdays in August, part of a tradition of musicianship at York Minster that spans a millennium.
