Wakefield makes stories about people and their lives. Some are over a thousand years in the making, others are only just beginning. Explore the gallery and hear a few of these stories.

Follow the themes of wealth and power, hardhsip and hope, passion and belief, love and war, work and home.

Experience the hard work of grinding grain, get dressed up, and have a go at creating some mixed-up animals-and then relax in the Front Room and let the kids explore the toy box and have a go at the activities on offer.

The museum is on the lower ground floor of the council building - Wakefield One. This is immediatley behind County Hall on Burton Street, and visible from Wakefield Westgate train station.
