Burton Constable at War

  • 2 August — 26 October 2014 *on now

To commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of The Great War, Burton Constable Hall is holding an exhibition exploring its links to World Wars One and Two.

Created by a team of dedicated volunteers, the exhibition explores the parts the Chichester-Constable family, the Burton Constable Estate, the Holderness area and people played in both wars.

The display also includes a selection of artefacts loaned from Hull Museums and an area where visitors can contribute their own wartime memories or simply remember a loved one.

Personal memories and reminiscences from local people have informed the content through the collection of oral histories and photographs. These have been used to make a series of booklets, full of vivid stories of Holderness during World War Two to complement the main display
