Burton Constable Hall is set in 300 acres of natural parkland landscaped by Capability Brown and has been the home of the Constable family for over 400 years. This truly hidden gem offers unrivalled access to more than 30 rooms and its interiors of faded grandeur are filled with collections of exquisite furniture, paintings and sculpture, a library of 5,000 books and a remarkable 18th century ‘cabinet of curiosities', which contains fossils, natural history specimens and the most important collection of scientific instruments to be found in any country house.

Getting there

The route is clearly marked by Historic House signs. From Beverley (14m) follow A1035 Bridlington road, turn right at White Cross roundabout then follow A165 towards Hull and follow Historic House signs from Skirlaugh.
From Hull (10m) follow A1033 towards Hedon and turn left at Saltend roundabout then follow signs to Preston and Sproatley and follow Historic House signs.

Additional info

The Hall is disabled friendly with wheelchair loan and stairlift to the first floor (maximum 2 people at any one time). Wheelchair loan is also available for the grounds. Surfaces both inside and outside may be uneven and the paths/walkways are mainly gravel

As part of Museums at Night Burton Constable Hall will be opening late on Friday 16th May for a delightful soirée.

Offering visitors a relaxed free flow tour of the house, piano recitals, behind the scenes tours, friendly guides in period dress, tours of our newly restored historic stable block and evening strolls around our 300 acres of historic parkland you are sure to enjoy this unique evening experience.

Gift Shop and Tearoom open 5pm to 9pm serving freshly prepared and baked on the premises foods.
