Lotherton Hall is a beautiful country house surrounded by historic gardens. Formerly the home of the Gascoigne family, it evokes a world of high Edwardian living.

Duty Calls

The exhibition forms one of two parts with a series of displays in the period rooms of the house and a second exhibition 'Dressed for Battle' in the fashion galleries. Displays look at the theme of Family Duty and Honour and tell the story of members of the Gascoigne family of Lotherton and the wars that touched their lives, from the American War of Independence to the Second World War.

Tissue Techniques at Lotherton Hall - Key Stage Two

Full day workshop for Key Stage Two pupils.
Investigate the richness of pattern and imagery within Lotherton Hall's decorative art collections and the architecture of the house itself. Create a design inspired by observations within the house and explore working with tissue paper and glue to create transparent effects that can be displayed like stained glass windows.

Curious Creatures Trail - Key Stage One

Find the animals. birds and creatures on the furniture, textiles, wallpaper and objects around the house.
This free trail can be pre-booked and borrowed from Reception. The pack consists of coloured and laminated pupil cards.

Houses and Homes Teacher's Notes - Key Stage One

Designed to complement our 'What were homes like a long time ago?' workshop, this free pack gives suggestions on how you can use Lotherton Hall as a resource to teach the topic of 'What were homes like a long time ago?'.

Link a visit to the Bird Garden with a visit to the Hall. Search for birds hidden amongst our collections. Solve the riddles to find out what they are.

Night in Gale Club

The Night in Gale Club is an opportunity for young people to be involved in the Night in Gale Gallery, learn new skills, build on their portfolio, voice an opinion and enter work to be exhibited in the gallery. The Club is suitable for young adults interested in or studying art.

One day workshop for Key Stage Two pupils
Take your class back in time to the start of World War II. Arriving as evacuees at Lotherton Hall, discover what an air raid siren sounds like, learn how to use Morse Code and draw up a plan for where you are going to sleep and how you will share the house.
