Lotherton Hall is a beautiful country house surrounded by historic gardens. Formerly the home of the Gascoigne family, it evokes a world of high Edwardian living. The house contains rich collections of paintings, sculpture, furniture, silver, ceramics, silver, jewellery, Oriential art and costume. The estate also has a deer park and a bird garden with rare and endangered species.

This venue has a Designated Collection of national importance.

Tissue Techniques at Lotherton Hall - Key Stage Two

Full day workshop for Key Stage Two pupils.
Investigate the richness of pattern and imagery within Lotherton Hall's decorative art collections and the architecture of the house itself. Create a design inspired by observations within the house and explore working with tissue paper and glue to create transparent effects that can be displayed like stained glass windows.

What were homes like a long time ago? - Key Stage One

Half-day workshop for Key Stage One pupils.
This session focuses on the differences between homes today and in the past. Explore the home of the wealthy Gascoigne family, identify the different types of rooms, objects and furniture and compare and contrast new and historic household objects in our handling session.

World War II Evacuation Role-Play - Key Stage Two

One day workshop for Key Stage Two pupils
Take your class back in time to the start of World War II. Arriving as evacuees at Lotherton Hall, discover what an air raid siren sounds like, learn how to use Morse Code and draw up a plan for where you are going to sleep and how you will share the house.
