The Herbert has extensive and wide ranging collections which are grouped under four broad headings:
• Visual Arts
• Social and Industrial History
• Archaeology
• Natural History

The museum collections contain hundreds of thousands of items ranging from tiny insects to large industrial machinery like a jacquard loom, and from everyday household objects to fine paintings by important artists.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a late medieval romance involving King Arthur’s nephew Gawain and a mysterious Green Knight, with a fleeting appearance by Wodehouse.

Join Dominic Russell for a narrative where the great battle between civilisation and chaos are fought in the dining hall, the hunting field and the bedroom.
