The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is an independent charity that cares for Shakespeare's heritage. It owns five Shakespeare Houses in and around Stratford-upon-Avon, all directly linked to Shakespeare. The Trust also cares for Harvard House.

The wider work of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust extends to managing one of the largest Shakespeare libraries in the world and a large archive of local history. It also runs a department devoted to education in Shakespeare and Shakespeare's Works, both for the public and educational institutions, and provides a programme of activities to inform and entertain throughout the year.

Parts of the Designated Collections of national importance relating to Shakespeare’s life and times are at this venue.

First Folio at Shakespeare's Birthplace

All the story of the night told over

18 May 2012

The title of our event “All the story of the night told over” was penned by Shakespeare in Midsummer Night’s Dream. We hope that a night-time presence at the Birthplace of the greatest storywriter ever known will provide inspiration for any budding writers out there, who will also get the chance to hear their work performed.

Do you fancy yourself as a poet or writer? Join us at Shakespeare’s Birthplace for an evening of unique inspiration where genius was born. Find yourself a spot in the Birthplace, the garden or exhibition and be inspired to write your own poem or short story.

Hear your work performed by our in house acting company Shakespeare Aloud! You'll also see your work displayed at the Birthplace during the month of June.

(All written pieces will be kept by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust for selection into the June display. All pieces of work will be returned to the writer at a later date. It may not be possible to display all the work due to space constraints)
