Kidderminster Railway Museum

The Kidderminster Railway Museum houses a vast range of railway artefacts, most of which date back to the days of steam travel. From pen nibs to clocks, from signs to signalling equipment, from photographs to timetables and rolling stock, there is a vast amount to see.
The collections are housed in a warehouse built by the Great Western Railway in 1878. The museum was first opened in 1990 by a group of volunteers from the Severn Valley Railway. Some of the collection is used for ‘hands-on’ displays, such as the telephone display and some of the signalling equipment. We have one of the largest collections of signalling equipment in the country.
The photograph, magazine, book and archive collections are held in the library and are available for research, but prior booking to see the material is essential. Events are held throughout the year, ranging from film shows to postcard fairs and art exhibitions. The museum shop stocks souvenirs, books and second hand magazines. We also have a tea room specialising in toasted sandwiches!
We are all keen, very knowledgeable about the subject of railways of the British Isles, have a very extensive and fine collection of all sorts of artefacts. We are all volunteers and do it because we love all things to do with railways. Any money that we do receive is always ploughed back into the museum project, thus improving our displays and facilities for you to experience.
