Powysland Museum is a local museum with three permanent galleries depicting the archaeology and social history of the old county of Montgomeryshire. The museum also has a temporary exhibition gallery with changing exhibition throughout the year.

Entrance to the Museum is £1.00 for adults, children uner 16 are free; students 50p. The Museum is closed lunchtime (13.00-14.00). In the winter season it is open Saturday 11.00-14.00.

The Montgomeryshire Canal at Welshpool

This trail focuses on the technology and architecture of the canal. A base map and quiz is supplied to discover the techniques used in building and operating this local stretch. Everything is easily accessible on foot, within 200m of the museum. There is also a permanent display in the museum

How to obtain

Entrance to the Museum is £1.00 for adults, children under 16 are free; students 50p. It is open Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri. The Museum is closed lunchtime (13.00-14.00).
In the winter season, it is closed on Sundays and open Saturdays 11.00-14.00. In summer, it is also open on Sunday 10.00 - 13.00 and 14.00 - 17.00
