Ceredigion Museum is housed in a restored Edwardian Theatre. It has been described as 'one of the most beautiful museum interiors in Britain'.

Ceredigion Museum is a vibrant, welcoming institution which through well thought out displays and exhibitions attempts to deepen the understanding of the history and culture of the county to the people of Ceredigion and its visitors.

We make accessible our collections and information about them, which we hold in trust for the community we serve.
This is achieved by collecting, documenting, preserving and interpreting material evidence of Ceredigion's past for the public benefit.

The museum displays objects of all ages from the county of Ceredigion (Cardiganshire). Most of the displays are of the Victorian period and later

Key artists and exhibits

  • The museum has a large collection of oil paintings by Alfred Worthington,1835-1925. There is also a fine collection of taxidermy by the Hutchings family of Aberystwyth who worked between the 1860s and 1942.

Postcard club will be exhibiting a collection
of authentic postcards, alongside Ceredigion
museum artefacts, from the outbreak of war
in 1914. ‘Postcards from the First World War’
is the first of three exhibitions Ceredigion
Museum is organising to commemorate the
centenary of this conflict.

Project Wild Thing Film

More than just a film, Project Wild Thing is a growing movement to get more children outside and reconnecting with nature.

Doors open at 18:00 with activities for kids led by the RSPB and museum natural history object handling.
