Once Upon A Wartime: Classic War Stories for Children is now on at the IWM, London until October 30, 2011. The exhibition then transfers to the IWM, North in Manchester and runs from February 11, 2012 until September 2, 2012.

The latest exhibition from IWM London, Once Upon A Wartime: Classic Stories for Children explores five stories about conflict for children:
War Horse by Michael Morpurgo
Carrie’s War by Nina Bawden
The Machine Gunners by Robert Westall
The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier
The Little Soldier by Bernard Ashley

Teaching resources

The IWM website is running a book review competition for children featuring the stories in the exhibition.

On the IWM website, you’ll find curriculum info and classroom activities to support a school visit to the exhibition or adapt as stand alone resources.
