Talk for Writing Conference (9/12/2010): using collections to support pupils' literacy is a national one-day conference and provides an opportunity to learn about the unique and exciting 'Talk for Writing' approach developed by the National Literacy Trust.
This approach has been led by Preston Museums and Schools in Partnership and Renaissance North West, supported by the MLA Strategic Commissioning CPD programme and is now being integrated in a variety of ways in museums and galleries in the North West.
Talk for Writing provides opportunities for pupils to engage with collections and use a range of speaking, listening and discussion skills to link what they experience to their own writing.
Date: Thursday, December 9, 2010
Time: 10.00am to 4.00pm
Venue: Lancashire Conservation Studios, Stanley Street, Preston PR1 4YP
The keynote speaker is Judy Clark from the National Literacy Trust. Representatives of the Preston Museums and Schools in Partnership group and Neil Dymond-Green, Renaissance North West Literacy Network Co-ordinator, will share practical examples of good practice.
