News: The British Museum's new website for kids called Young explorers is all about world histories and cultures. It has games, including the amazing Time explorer, and more.

In Time explorer, you're like a combination of Doctor Who and Indiana Jones as you travel back in time to ancient civilisations: Imperial China, Aztec Mexico, Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt. Your task is to rescue the endangered treasured objects along the way and return them to the local people.
This is a great resource if you are covering any of these civilisations in class; as well as gaming skills, your pupils will also learn plenty of historical facts along the way. We were also impressed by the design of the game - it has the look and fun feel of commercial games that kids are used to playing - always a plus when introducing a game in a classroom setting!
We've got an introduction to Time explorer on our Show Me site for kids - complete with some tips on how to play the game.

There's more than games on Young explorers. For useful topic help, pupils can go to the Discover section and find out about more than 500 objects from the museum's collection.
You can also check out family events at the British Museum and sign up for a Families enewsletter.
