Online resources: two free, cross-curricular web materials from Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online, CLEO, allow your pupils to create both the Buddha and Hindu elephant deity Ganesh. You'll need Flash for both resources.

Making Ganesh with Sumit Sarkar
Making Ganesh is a great multi-faceted resource for primary level and beyond. In a timelapse video, Sumit Sarkar show he creates the image of Ganesh using the Blender software. There are how to videos explaining ways of using Blender and making 3D models and animations. There's also a video from the Gujurat Hindu Society to introduce Lord Ganesh. We liked the sweet re-telling of the story in pictures and words from Deepdale Primary School and finally, there are clips of Year 8 pupils talking about their Hindu faith.

Draw the Buddha's Face with Andy Weber
Draw the Buddha's Face is the second interactive we'd recommend. In ancient Buddhist legend, artists used a grid to help them remember what Buddha looked like so that after he died artists could draw him. This interactive includes a video with artist Andy Weber using the grid format to draw the Buddha's face. There are also helpful background notes too, including details about the traditional colours used.
