News: the Royal Albert Hall has launched Showtime, a free online resource to support Maths, English and ICT learning at secondary level, using the inspirational backdrop of the Grade I-listed building

Through Showtime secondary school pupils will discover how the skills learnt in Maths, English and ICT are used on a practical, everyday level by staff at the Royal Albert Hall. This may even inspire them to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Each unit introduces a member of the Hall's staff who explains their job and sets a selection of tasks for the pupils to solve using their skills in the subjects.

"Showtime is available to all learners who are studying at Key Stages 3 and 4, whether those students are in formal education or being home-schooled," said Alastair Tallon, Head of the Hall's Learning and Participation Department.

"We have a good track record of opening the Hall's learning and participation programme to all those in home education. With an estimated 50,000 pupils learning outside the school system, we're keen to offer as many as possible access to this resource."

He added: "Showtime has been written to inspire learning, wherever you learn, and we're really excited about how pupils up and down the country will engage with our latest initiative."
