News: Press to Print is the latest activity session for under-fives at the Beacon, Whitehaven (May 28 2009).

The Beacon, in Whitehaven, Cumbria is taking inspiration from the latest exhibition at the Harbour Gallery for its Press to Print activities for under-fives.

Your little charges, or your own little ones can make prints based upon photographs from the new Secret Copeland exhibition.

Learning officer Alan Gillon said: ''As well as crafts to enjoy, the session will also have a storytime. The sessions are a great way for young children to develop their social skills and interact with other youngsters."

"They also create an opportunity for parents and carers to have dedicated time to engage with their children."

The one-hour session starts at 10.30am and costs £2 per child.

The next session is Pirate Fun on June 25 2009. Future activities are also planned, beginning in September, with themes including the seaside, play theatre and wild animals.

For older children, The Beacon is also running a Press to Print workshop on May 26 and 27 2009. Sessions run 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 3pm. Children aged between three and 12 are welcome, although children aged under eight must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information on any of these sessions or to book a place call in or telephone The Beacon on 01946 592302.
