News: Encourage your pupils to take their work on the Victorian Age one step further by becoming young Victorians at Blists Hill Victorian Town
Ironbridge Museums' Blists Hill Victorian Town is training young recruits to join their team of costumed interpreters in bringing the Museum to life by shining shoes, pushing mining trolleys and playing traditional Victorian games.
The groundbreaking project has been launched by the museum to join "residents" celebrating events in the town's calendar, such as Queen Victoria's birthday.

"This is such an exciting scheme," said the Museum's Director of Marketing and PR, Paul Gossage. "It's a chance for youngsters to step back in time and really experience first hand what it was like growing up in Victorian times...without the misery."
The children take part in town festivities such as Queen Victoria's Birthday and dress up according to their role at the time. The Museum is currently looking for more volunteers to take part in the scheme and is exploring funding to keep the project going beyond 2010.
The project has been funded by the Department for Culture Media and Sport and the Department for Children Schools and Families as part of the Find Your Talent Pathfinder project.
As part of the scheme, young people get the chance to try out different cultural and creative activities, encouraging them to use their talents in ways which could inspire their future careers.
