Terry Frost and Jessica Warboys
- 10 October 2015 — 10 January 2016
On the event of his centenary year, this dual billing presents Sir Terry Frost alongside contemporary artist Jessica Warboys.
Although conceived as distinct solo shows, the exhibitions consider the two artists’ shared use of symbolism, vocabulary of forms, and playful approach to landscape and experience.
Sir Terry Frost was committed to the principles of abstraction from the early 1950s, and for over fifty years evolved a personal language imbued with the sensational experience of being in the world. This exhibition explores his essential ideas around space and form through themes of performance, construction and play.
Jessica Warboys’s practice employs a variety of media, ranging from sculpture, film, and performance to large format canvases including sea paintings. Her work often departs from personal or collective memories, be it historical, mythical or fictional.
