Lydiard Park is the ancestral home of the Viscounts Bolingbroke. The ground floor state rooms of the Palladian house are open to visitors all year round. Containing original family furnishings, portraits and photographs of the St John family and ornate plasterwork, the house is beautifully presented and outside the 18th century ornamental fruit and flower Walled Garden has recently been restored to its former glory. St Mary's Church next to the house also contains some exceptional monuments to the St John family.

By road: from J16 M4 follow brown signs to Lydiard Park, from A419 and other routes follow signs to West Swindon and follow the brown signs to Lydiard Park

By bus: Thamesdown Transport services 1 & 1A to Middleleaze or Ramleaze from Fleming Way in town centre, nearest bus stop to Lydiard Park entrance is Wilmot Close

160 Camp: The Lydiard Park Prisoner of War Hospital Camp

A new display in the State Rooms of Lydiard House tells the story of the Second World War Prisoner Of War Hospital Camp in the grounds of Lydiard Park. It will feature photos, maps and true stories about the inmates, doctors, nurses and guards. Museum entry charge applies
