The Rylands Collection

This impressive online collection of over 4500 images displays highlights spanning five millennia from the vast resources of the Special Collections Division of the John Rylands University Library, Manchester. These images will intrigue anyone with an interest in fine printing, historical texts, beautiful bookbinding, decorated manuscripts, including illuminated medieval Books of Hours, Persian Shahnamas and Chinese paintings, papyri including the renowned St John fragment, and landmark works in typography including pages from the Gutenberg bible and works by Caxton, England's first printer.
