Culture24 has launched a collaboration to look at the way that the cultural sector defines and measures success online.

The action research project is called How to Evaluate Online Success and includes partners from the National Maritime Museum, the British Museum and the British Library. We're hoping that the project – conducted in conjunction with a PhD scholarship at the University of Leicester – will revolutionise the way the sector thinks about its digital output, the audiences it reaches and the ways in which we measure our success.

At a meeting held at our offices on Friday July 2 2010, all the partners from the project got together to look at the current issues we face, the things we might usefully study and the ways we might do so.

Seb Chan from the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney spoke to the meeting about Google Analytics, and Jenni Lloyd from Brighton social media agency Nixon McInnes talked us through – what else? – social media.

If you are interested in finding out the project, download this PDF document. If you are interested in being kept up to date about the project Email Jane Finnis to find out more.

The Action Research Report on this project will be launched at Culture24's conference Let's Get Real: How to Evaluate Success Online? which will take place in Bristol on 20 - 21 September 2011.
