Culture24/BBC partnership overview

Want to reach millions via the BBC website? Culture24 is now the official cultural data provider to the BBC, which means we can now channel your activities to the BBC website Things To Do.

On this page you will find all you need to know about how to register for this new development.

About the BBC Things To Do website

The site launched in April 2011 and gives audiences the opportunity to find and engage with hands-on activities around the UK.

Participating organisations have the opportunity to promote their activities via a range of project themes - including Nature, History, Science, Arts & Crafts, Sports and Outdoors & Adventure and many more.

Registering partners need to accept terms & conditions for both Things To Do and a supplementary set for the projects in the registration form below:

What kind of activities can feature on Things To Do?

activities must:
- be free or cost-recovery
- have a participatory element (eg guided walk or a talk with Q&A.)
- link to a BBC project (eg Hands on History)
- include a photo (see below)

Once uploaded to Culture24, each activity is moderated by an Activities Editor and then channelled to Things To Do.

How do I upload activity photos?

Each activity must include a photo that:
- gives a clear idea of what each activity involves
- is in landscape jpeg format - 608 (width) x 342 (height) pixels exactly
- includes relevant copyright, short description (and permissions if it includes children)

For more help on how to upload, resize or source your activity photos, please download the Things To Do photoguide.

I don’t think my organisation is part of the Culture24 database – can I still take part in the partnership?

If you’re a museum, gallery, library or heritage site and meet the criteria above, then yes, absolutely. We will sign you up to the Culture24 network and help you to update your organisation’s entry and upload your activities.

Do I need to sign-up as a Culture24 member organisation to take part?

Yes, signing up to Culture24 will enable you to feed your activities through to Things To Do website quickly and effectively. Your activity will then be listed on Culture24 and other appropriate partner websites or mobile app, ensuring it’s seen by the widest possible audience.

You can request a free Culture24 username and password - or reminder of your current details - using this form.
