If you've decided what your venue would like to do for Museums at Night 2010, the next thing you’ll need to do is add it to Culture24's Direct Data Entry system as soon as possible.
The May issues of most glossy magazines (women's, lifestyle, travel, heritage and history) come out at the beginning of April and their copy deadlines are mid-January.
Even if you haven't confirmed your event, you can let us know that it’s in the planning stages (so we can include it in the advance publicity) by adding it to the site. You can hide it from the general public by selecting the Planning option in the Event Status section of the events form – full instructions are below.
Getting a password
If you have lost or forgotten your username and/or password simply go here, fill out a short form, and either Ruth or Rosie will get back to you with your details.
If your institution is not on Culture24 at all and you would like to sign up, you can do that here.
How to use DDE
To log in, you can either go directly to the log-in page or follow the Update Your Info link in the bottom right corner of every page on the Culture24 website.
A popup window will appear. Type in your username in capital letters, and password in lower case and you’re in.
If for some reason you’re not in, email ruth@culture24.org.uk and she will do her best to find out what's gone wrong and fix it.
When you have logged into the system, you will see your main organisation admin page. There are five sections you can add information to:
Manage your organisation details
Manage your collections
Manage your educational resources
Manage your events
Preview your entry
Each of these sections links to a page where you can add and change information.
To add a Museums at Night event:
Click Manage your events
Click Add a new event
You will see a form with detailed instructions on the left hand side, but here are a few pointers for Museums at Night events in particular:
Event status: If you haven't confirmed your event yet, you can set this to Planning – it won't be published, and you can go in later to update the details. If your plans are definite, please leave the event status as Confirmed.
Programmes: Make sure to tick the box marked Museums at Night 2010.
Description: Don't forget, you only have 100 words to describe your event. This will also form the basis of the press information we send out, so make sure your description is as punchy and enticing as it can be.
If you are stuck or are finding something confusing, get in touch with Ruth Harper on ruth@culture24.org.uk and she'll try to set you straight.
If you'd like to discuss your Museums at Night plans, please contact Rosie Clarke on rosie@culture24.org.uk or 01273 623336.
