How To Get Your Information On Our Site: Step-By-Step

| 19 February 2009

Culture24’s Direct Data Entry (DDE) system enables every institution featured on our database to input and amend their own details as often as they want. Information you enter will populate your entries on the Culture24 site and Engaging Places.

Engaging Places is a programme that aims to give every school in the country easy access to high quality resources which support teaching and learning through buildings and places. It is run by CABE (the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) in partnership with English Heritage. The Engaging Places website, powered by the Culture24 database, brings together all the built environment learning opportunities and news into one place.

Step 1 Email DDE@culture24.org.uk for your institution's user name and password.

Step 2 Click here to enter the DDE system.

Step 3 A popup window will appear. Type in your username, using capital letters, and password, using lower case letters.

Step 4 You will see five clickable links. The first, Manage your institution details, allows you to edit your contact details, opening hours, and general information. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter or change your details with as much or as little information as you like. We strongly encourage you to add an image to your institution details.

Step 5 Click Submit, and your details will be automatically added to our database when the site next goes live, typically twice a day.

Step 6 The DDE Home link at the top right of the screen will always return you to the front page.

Step 7 Under Manage your collections you can describe the most significant holdings at your venue. This may not be relevant for all institutions.

Step 8 Under Manage your educational resources you can list and tag to the National Curriculum any resources you have created to assist teachers. If your resource relates to the built environment, please tick the Engaging Places box, and it will also be displayed on the Engaging Places website.

Step 9 Under Manage your events you can promote any temporary exhibitions, conferences, events, lectures or workshops your institution is running. You will need to enter the relevant dates in order to save an event.

Step 10 Under Preview your entry you can see how the information you have entered will be displayed on the 24 Hour Museum site.
