The extraordinary architecture of the house includes extravagant rococco and chinoiserie decoration, other features include the unique Chinese Room and parquetry Grand Stairs. In continuous occupation by the Verney family for over 380 years.
All Saints Church (not NT) in the grounds, is also open to the public.

See Claydon as you never have before – explore the house and grounds with your toes! We’ll be taking you on a barefoot tour of Claydon House, telling you all the best stories and even tiptoeing places that grown ups just cant go. We’ll give you a handmade shoe bag to decorate after your tour, use it as a backpack for all your 50 thing adventures this summer.

Bug Hunt

Hunt for bugs in the house with our Claydon critters trail; learn how we protect Claydon from tiny beasties that eat almost anything. Then outside on the terrace help provide some alternative accommodation for all kinds of insects by making a bug hotel to take home with you.

Bird Watching

Enjoy the view from the West Terrace at Claydon and use our fact sheets to identify all the different kinds of birds we have here. Learn all about the red kite – a hawk that you can only see in this part of the country. Then make your own bird shaped kite to fly along the terrace.
