Our award winning building is situated on the banks of the River Thames, a short walk from the centre of Henley on Thames.
The River & Rowing Museum has three galleries dedicated to Rowing, Rivers and the history of Henley on Thames. The Museum is home to the magical Wind in the Willows exhibition, which brings to life the much-loved story with 3D models, lighting and music.
There are lots of family events and workshops, check our website for an up to date programme, including information about visiting exhibitions. There are also various function rooms and a fantastic café - the perfect place to unwind, whilst enjoying meadow views, with a fantastic selection of delicious home-made dishes, freshly prepared from seasonal ingredients.
With a constantly evolving calendar of temporary art and photography exhibitions and a year-round calendar of nature trails, craft workshops and family days, there is always something new to see and do.

The Museum is fully accessible and carers are entitled to free admission.
The Museum has three main galleries devoted to the River Thames, the international sport of rowing and the town of Henley. There are also three special exhibition galleries, the Riverside Café, shop, Education Centre, library and function rooms.

Art Ways Club
Come and join this Saturday morning (10.30-12.30) art club for 7–11 year olds, consisting of five-week courses exploring ways of making art using a wide range of media. The five-week blocks alternate between two-dimensional practice in drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed media work, and three-dimensional practice in clay work, environmental media, felt and construction. The course includes all materials and refreshments and is led by experienced, qualified tutors.

Take part in interactive sessions for parents and carers, enjoying a range of creative activities including craft, stories, songs and free play which explore the Museum. Sessions are led by a trained teacher and are informal and fun for all. Sessions must be booked in advance for a half or whole term only.

Getting there
Road: Easy to find by road, use RG9 1BF. Parking is FREE for Museum visitors. Our large car park is for the exclusive use of Museum visitors and guests attending an event. We have allocated parking for visitors with disabilities, and ramps to the Museum main entrance.
Rail: Regular services from London (Paddington), Reading and Maidenhead via Twyford to Henley on Thames. See National Rail Enquiries and First Great Western Link for further information and timetables.
Bus: Regular 328/329 bus services between Reading and High Wycombe, stopping at Henley on Thames. There is an hourly X39 service from Oxford. For additional information visit Reading Buses and Arriva Buses.
Boat: A seasonal passenger boat service is operated by Salters Steamers from Reading and Marlow and will drop passengers off at the Museum’s jetty.
