The North Norfolk Railway is a working museum, providing an insight into railway transport in East Anglia over the last 130 years or so. Trains run, as per timetable, between Sheringham and Holt, a distance of 5 1/4 miles.

The working collection includes everything on the railway, including locomotives, coaches, wagons, signals and signalboxes, stations and other buildings, right down to the large collection of original signs.

Our collections policy allows us to collect railway items to interpret our railway heritage in East Anglia, especially that of the M&GN Joint Railway.

A Victorian Journey

18 May 2012

Travel back in time to the inauguration of the railway and find how it transformed the area by bringing trade, tourism and travel to Norfolk.  Encounter the novel experience of a free journey on a steam train to Holt (if you dare!), where you will be able to visit the North Norfolk Railway’s museum, satiate your hunger by partaking of refreshments and lift your spirits by enjoying entertainment that will gladden your heart.  During the evening, you will encounter intriguing characters who could be found on the railway during the Victorian age.
