Victorian Ghost Stories

Join our eerie evening filled with tales of dark deeds in the Great Hall, ghostly apparitions in the Service Wing and scary happenings outside. Meet Miss Cassandra Worthy and her fellow Victorians for an evening of myths of the macabre, stories of the extraordinary, and tales of terror. Tours at 6pm and 8pm. Over 16s only.

Victorian Values Discovery Visit

Explore the life of a Victorian servant in a completely different way - meet Mrs Warwick, the formidable housekeeper to the Braybrooke family at Audley End House. Students will find out about life in the Service Wing and hear the tales of the servants who toiled there, before trying their hand at activities such as sheet-folding and vegetable preparation in the new purpose-built education room. Groups are encouraged to come dressed in Victorian costume. Servants' aprons are provided.
Duration: 1 1/2 hours
Key Stage: 1, 2, History
Book a free tour to follow the workshop and use it to compare the grand rooms of the masters with the stark accommodation for the servants.

How to obtain

Call 01223 582732 to arrange a 1 ½ hour tour each Wednesday-Friday during term time, except 24th December and 31st January. Price £60 per group of up to 30 pupils until April 2009, £75 per group after April 2009. Visit for more information.
