Not 'all over by Christmas' - Festivities in World War 1

  • 3 November 2014 6-8am

6 to 7pm - Evening opening of Wycombe in World War 1, with refreshments served in the 1920s kitchen
Special evening opening of Wycombe in World War 1 exhibition and Museum shop with tea and cake served in the 1920s Kitchen.

7 to 8pm - Not 'all Over by Christmas' - Talk
Despite the expectations of many, the war was certainly not all over by Christmas 1914. In fact a total of four Christmases would be celebrated during World War 1. Join Curator Catherine Grigg for this illustrated talk to discover why not even the trenches, food shortages or the separation of families could destroy the urge to celebrate Christmas and just why Christmas was so significant at this time.

Tiny Talk Time


A special time at Wycombe Museum for children aged 0-5 years. Enjoy stories, trails and craft activities inspired by the Museum collection and gardens. Come along on the 2nd and 4th Friday at 10.30-11.30.
