Verulamium was the third largest city of Roman Britain and the museum stands on the site of the Roman town.

Families are always welcome at our museum. Inside you will find:
-recreated Roman rooms
-hands-on discovery areas
-a video about the excavations
-and some of the finest Roman mosaics and wall plasters outside the Mediterranean

A history of pubs and brewing in St Albans

  • 27 October 2017 7-8pm

The inns and ale houses of St Albans have been serving the needs of travellers, pilgrims and locals alike for centuries. Join us for this evening talk to learn about the history of St Albans' many pubs and inns. The talk will be followed by a free beer tasting with local brewer Farr Brew and there will be an opportunity to buy some samples to take away.

Shadow Puppet Roman Myths and Legends

  • 28 October 2017 5:30-6:15pm, 6:30-7:15pm

Soak up the atmosphere of Verulamium Museum at dusk with special family-friendly puppet show performances. Wonder at the storytelling and explore the puppets and techniques used after the show. Shows run for 45 minutes, including a chance to meet the puppeteer and see the puppets up close afterwards. Suitable for children aged 6 and over. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
