The collections of decorative arts include the Regency furniture and silver-gilt displayed in the Royal Pavilion, the Macquoid furniture at Preston Manor, the Willett Collection of ceramics illustrating popular history, and outstanding holdings of British and European 20th century decorative design and craft.

The Magical Machines of Rowland Emett

Quirky automata, magical mechanical contraptions from the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and fabulous flying machines are among the whimsical and wonderful inventions of Rowland Emett (1906-1990).

The Exploratory Lunacycle has brought its moon rock samples to Hove Museum and the Humbug Major is thinking of sweets
The Little Dragon Carpet Sweeper is cleaning in the Royal Pavilion
The Featherstone Kite Flying Machine has swooped into Brighton Museum
The Ornithologist is busy at the Booth Museum

Animals in the Frame

Animals both domestic and wild are featured in this exhibition of paintings from the collection of the Royal Pavilion & Museums. In this family friendly
exhibition artists have captured aspects of our relationship with animals, whether it is admiration for the majesty of a stag or exactly why dogs are known as man’s best friend.

The show is supported with audio description and gallery activities so come
along and join in the fun.

This autumn Hove Museum is all about animals. Drop in and draw, follow a trail or join a workshop!
