The exhibition of local artifacts dates back beyond the original Roman settlements through to recent times. Many of the artifacts will be familiar to visitors of the previous Museum and include: the stocks and whipping post, Scalextric, St Faith’s Church Turret Clock, Stents leather, a 1900’s police truncheon and much more.

The Dark Room

Since cameras were first invented people have been capturing images as photographs, attempting to record special moment for the future.

Tonight we are exploring photography in our special free Museums at Night event. From the earliest cameras to the modern phenomenon of selfies, we will celebrate the importance of photographs, what they can tell us about the past and how we use them now in life, art and for fun.

Activities for all ages will take place throughout the evening and will include:
Making pinhole cameras,
Handling cameras from the past,
Exploring time lapse photography,
A fun photo booth,
Arts and crafts,
Expert talks
and much more.

Don’t miss our highlight event at 11pm, when we will open the theatre for our live streamed light, sound and UV extravaganza. Wear white and bring your camera, tablet or phone to record the moment.

Designed as a social experience this is a chance get involved, delve deeper into fascinating subjects and enjoy a great night with friends and family.
