Dover Museum is a local history and archaeology museum situated in the town centre of Dover, Britain's historic port town. It is home to the Dover Bronze Age Boat, the world's oldest known seagoing boat and a fascinating archaeological discovery. It is a modern museum which tells Dover's rich and important history through the museum's fine collection, including a splendid archaeology collection; clear and legible illustrated panels (with French precis); models and replicas, including a wonderful set of scale models showing the development of the town and port of Dover from the Roman times up to 1990; informative computer displays, which include games and interactives for all ages; and access to an illustrated database of the museum's reserve collection.

Also bring along your favourite archaelogical find to be indentified and recorde by the Kent Finds Liasion Officer.
Also a 'Hands on History' event organised by the White Cliffs metal Detecting Club including a chance to chat to members of the club, look at their collection of finds spanning thousands of years and the iopportunity to use a metal detector to find hidden treasure.

A 2hr workshop at Dover Musuem combining a talk and artefact handling session on the lives of the rich and poor in the Tudor period with either
a) a practical art workshop making a clay head of Henry VIII.
b) a drama session on everyday life in the Tudor period.
c) a drama session on Henry VIII and his six wives.

Roman Festival for Schools

The Roman Festival takes place from Tuesday 15th June - Friday 18th June 2010. Pupils can come and spend the day experiencing Roman Life. During the day pupils will have the opportunity to visit Dover Museum, have a talk and artefact handling session on life in Roman Britain and take part in two one hour workshops either Roman drama on everyday life in the Roman period and an art workshop making a replica Roman style oil lamp or learn about Roman Magic and Medicine. Tudor Festival for Schools

The Tudor Festival at Dover Museum runs from Wednesday 7th July - Friday 9th July 2010.
Pupils can come and spend the day, 10.00 - 15.00 experiencing Tudor Life. During the course of the day pupils will have the opportunity to:-
Visit Dover Museum and see the Tudor artfacts and paintings,
Have a talk and artefact handling session on everyday life during the Tudor period,
Take part in two 1hr workshops either
A drama workshop on life durigng the Tudor period and an art workshop making a clay head of Henry VIII,
Or
Learn about Tudor music with an active hands on guided tour of Tudor musical instruments and learn about th toys and games played by Tudor children and make a card version of the

Victorian Festival for Schools

Come and spend a day experiencing Victorian Life 10.00 - 16.00. The Victorian festival takes place on Monday 9th November & Tuesday 10th November 2009.
During the day pupils will:-
Make a Victorian style clay tile
Have the opportunity to handle and draw some Victorian artefacts
Learn some Victorian songs
Have a practical drama workshop on life as a Victorian child
Try a Victorian quiz based on Dover Town Hall
Have their hair styled and faces made up Victorian style
The day culminates in a Victrorian sing a long.
All children and accompanying adults to come dresses in Victorian costume.

WW2 Festival for Schools

The W.W.2 Festival takes place on Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th & Friday 12th March 2010 and runs from 10.00 - 15.00.
During the course of the day pupils :-
Have a talk and artefact handling session on everyday life in WW2
Have their hair done 40's styl;e and recieve wounds
Draw a variety af wartime artefacts
Visit Dover Museum
and choose from either:-
An art workshop making a clay ration meal, not only the food but also the plate and cutlery
Or a drama workshop on life for children during WW2

The cost of the WW2 Festival is £3.75 per pupil, with all accompanying adults free.
