A museum (reg.charity No.290431), run entirely by un-paid volunteers, depicting village life on the edge of the Cambridgeshire Fens from the Saxons to the 60's. The displays are housed in various attractive buildings including an 18th Century timber framed barn.
Stevens' Mill, a Grade II* Listed windmill next to the museum site, is part of the museum but is awaiting full restoration. Visitors can not go inside until restoration is finished. The mill is on the English Heritage Historic Buildings At Risk Register and will remain on it until enough money has been raised to complete the restoration.
The museum has a Friends group who amongst other things help to staff the museum on open days and organise fund-raising events.
Further details about the museum can be found on our website www.burwellmuseum.org.uk (click the link above right) The website also includes a "Gallery" containing many photos and videos of some of our displays, our interesting buildings and many of our Special Events from 2004 to present.
