Brooklands was the first purpose-built motor racing circuit in the world in 1907. It was also one of the most prolific aircraft production sites in Europe, with over 18,500 aircraft built or assembled at Brooklands by companies such as Vickers, Hawker, BAC and British Aerospace.

The Sunbeam Cafe is open all day during normal Museum opening hours. Hot lunches are served and a fine selection of teas and cakes throughout the day.

Our library is open to the public by appointment only.

The 30 acre Museum site displays a wide range of Brooklands- related motoring and aviation exhibits reflecting many great engineering and technological acievements throughout the 20th Century. These range from the 1933, 24-litre Napier-Railton racing car to a Wellington Bomber recovered from Loch Ness; a unique collection of Vickers/BAC-built aircraft and the only Concorde publically accessible in the South East. The Motoring Village also displays Brooklands record braking and Grand Prix cars, racing motorcycles and bicycles.

4D Theatre poster

The Napier-Railton Race Experience

Visitors to the Museum can now take their seats for the ride of their life in a brand new, state-of-the-art 4D Theatre. Just as John Cobb and Sir Malcolm Campbell did in the 1930s, you can now see, hear, feel and even smell what it would have been like to race around the concrete banked circuit in a pre-War racing car.

Classic Breakfast

Brooklands Classic Breakfast

Join us at our Sunday morning Breakfast Club. This Year we will be holding three Classic Breakfasts, Winter (February 15th), Spring (May 17th) and Autumn (October 25th).

This is your chance to meet up with like-minded vintage and classic vehicle enthusiasts, have breakfast and admire the cars and motorbikes on show. The Motoring Village will open at 9.00am and the rest of the Museum will be open as usual from 10am. Subject to weather, Test Hill will be in action after breakfast with a briefing at 10.15am.

It will be first come, first served, so arrive early enough in your classic and you will be able to park in the Paddock, with lots more parking just outside the Paddock. All cars are welcome to park on site until 9:30am, after which normal visitor car parking can be used.

Breakfast will be served in our Sunbeam Café AND the Vickers Suite from 8am - 9.45am Last tickets for the breakfast are sold on the gate at 9:30.

All cars for the Breakfast are welcome to enter the Museum via the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road.

All prices include breakfast and entry into the Museum.

Vintage car ride on the Members' Banking of the old race track

Half Term Family Activities

On weekdays during Half Term, our popular car rides will be operating from 11am-1pm and from 2-3.30pm (subject to weather). Take a trip in a vintage-style car up Test Hill or along the Members’ Banking of the old Race Track, courtesy of the Brooklands Volunteer Car Rides Team. Also, London Bus Museum will be operating bus rides around the local area.

Look out for Bertie the Brooklands Bear, who will be making guest appearances, pick up one of our trails for children up to 12 years old or try out our Family Workshop.

Every conceivable vehicle and pieces of apparatus used in the emergency services will grace the Museum site in an impressive line-up of display vehicles.

This event continues to grow in popularity and presents an exciting but safe environment for you to witness the serious nature of what men and women do all over the country every day to make our world safe and save lives. Get up close to the forces and chat to experts about their particular field.

This year we will also be welcoming back Fireman Sam to the Museum. Sam will be making personal appearances on site at intervals throughout the day to see to his fans. Don’t miss out on this chance to meet the nation’s favourite firefighter!

1940s market at Brooklands

The 1940s Relived

Stock up on vintage gear at our extensive vintage market, featuring some of the best vintage sellers around, providing everything from hats, suits and shoes to accessories, books and original memorabilia.

Around the site you will find all the usual Museum exhibits, but you will never know what is around the next corner - you may find the Home Guard on parade or manning the Pill Box, an RAF Fighter Command Control Centre or US airborne troops carrying out demonstrations of infantry weapons and fire power.

If all this activity gets a bit much, head over to the Brooklands Palais du Dance where you will be able to listen to authentic sounds from our specialist vintage DJ, take some dance lessons from the experts or gaze and listen to the warm tones of chanteuse Noelle Vaughnsinging live. There will be food and drink, a hair and beauty parlour and all the usual Museum treasures from the halcyon days of Brooklands.

New for this year is the recreation of the 1948 London Motor Show - SO DON’T MISS IT!

In the afternoon, we will open our Vintage Portrait Studio run by photographer Jason Dodd, a full programme of black and white films from the era while upstairs in the Art Deco Members’ Bar there will be drinks and more music.

Music and entertainment will continue on into the evening, so stick around all day or just come along in the evening to enjoy Brooklands Museum after dark.

Pre-war car racing up Test Hill

The Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival

  • 13 — 14 June 2015 10am-5pm

The annual Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival returns on the 13th & 14th of June 2015, with a full weekend of motorsport action.

Organised in association with the Vintage Sports-Car Club, the event celebrates Brooklands' rich motoring history, and is always held on the weekend closest to the Anniversary of the original opening of the Brooklands race track in 1907.

The two-day extravaganza features Speed Trials, Driving Tests and the prestigious Double Twelve Concours.

As well as the main competitions, the Test Hill Challenge will also take place on Saturday. This will involve everything from bicycles and motorcycles to giant pre-war racing cars and running races for energetic children up the punishing 352ft (107m) concrete slope.

With family entertainment once again planned throughout the site and lots more attractions to be announced, this is a weekend for everyone!

Supercars on the Mercedes-Benz World track

Supercar Day

Building on the success of last year’s Supercar day, this all-marques event will feature demonstrations on the Mercedes-Benz World track and Test Hill of exotic and exclusive modern and classic cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguars, top end Alfa Romeos, Aston Martins, Bugattis, Rolls Royces, Porsches and Bentleys. A unique opportunity for visitors to enjoy supercars at close quarters.

RetroJumble & Classic Car Show

The BTM Retro Jumble returns, with over 60 stands selling everything from vintage clothing to motoring memorabilia and car boot jumbles. Alongside the RetroJumble, the BTM Classic Car Show fills the Museum site with classic and vintage vehicles of all ages.

The classic car show is open to anyone with a classic, vintage or veteran vehicle and there is discounted Museum entry for advance booking with a classic vehicle. (Brooklands Trust Members free). Car clubs are welcome.

Red car racing up test Hill

Brooklands Reunion

  • 16 August 2015 10am-5pm

Capturing the atmosphere of Club meetings in the 1930s, the new style Brooklands Reunion sees us remember the final race meetings held at Brooklands before the outbreak of WW2.

The site will be filled with the actual cars, motorcycles and bicycles that raced here from 1907-1939. We will also be welcoming other pre-War vehicles, which will be parked up, as spectators’ vehicles would have been on race days.

There will be plenty of action on site as well, including Test Hill demonstrations, with sessions for cars and motorcycles and a cavalcade on the Mercedes-Benz World track.
