Brooklands was the first purpose-built motor racing circuit in the world in 1907. It was also one of the most prolific aircraft production sites in Europe, with over 18,500 aircraft built or assembled at Brooklands by companies such as Vickers, Hawker, BAC and British Aerospace.

The Sunbeam Cafe is open all day during normal Museum opening hours. Hot lunches are served and a fine selection of teas and cakes throughout the day.

Our library is open to the public by appointment only.

The 30 acre Museum site displays a wide range of Brooklands- related motoring and aviation exhibits reflecting many great engineering and technological acievements throughout the 20th Century. These range from the 1933, 24-litre Napier-Railton racing car to a Wellington Bomber recovered from Loch Ness; a unique collection of Vickers/BAC-built aircraft and the only Concorde publically accessible in the South East. The Motoring Village also displays Brooklands record braking and Grand Prix cars, racing motorcycles and bicycles.

Vintage car ride on the Members' Banking of the old race track

Half Term Family Activities

On weekdays during Half Term, our popular car rides will be operating from 11am-1pm and from 2-3.30pm (subject to weather). Take a trip in a vintage-style car up Test Hill or along the Members’ Banking of the old Race Track, courtesy of the Brooklands Volunteer Car Rides Team. Also, London Bus Museum will be operating bus rides around the local area.

Look out for Bertie the Brooklands Bear, who will be making guest appearances, pick up one of our trails for children up to 12 years old or try out our Family Workshop.

4D Theatre poster

The Napier-Railton Race Experience

Visitors to the Museum can now take their seats for the ride of their life in a brand new, state-of-the-art 4D Theatre. Just as John Cobb and Sir Malcolm Campbell did in the 1930s, you can now see, hear, feel and even smell what it would have been like to race around the concrete banked circuit in a pre-War racing car.

Torchlight Tour

Torchlight Tour

Warm clothes, sensible shoes and a torch are highly recommended as our expert guide leads you through the Motoring Village, Wellington Hangar, Test Hill and the Members’ Banking. Please arrive between 18:00 and 18:30. Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. Not suitable for children under 12 years. Must be pre-booked from Donna Hopton using the contact details below.

Driving Tests infront of Clubhouse

VSCC Driving Tests

  • 1 February 2015 10am-4pm

Join us as almost 60 pre-war cars tackle a dozen different complicated courses laid out around the historic Brooklands site including Test Hill, the Banking and the Finishing Straight, with drivers competing against the clock while trying to avoid any penalty-attracting mistakes.

As with all VSCC events, the competition boasts an eclectic mix of pre-war cars. Tests will run throughout the day, starting from 10am, with a break for lunch.

Gates open at 10am, non-participating pre-war cars are also welcome to enter via the Campbell Gate and will be displayed in and around the Paddock. Normal admissions charges apply. Visitor parking is in The Heights off Wellington Way - please follow event signage.

Classic Breakfast

Brooklands Classic Breakfast

Join us at our Sunday morning Breakfast Club. This Year we will be holding three Classic Breakfasts, Winter (February 15th), Spring (May 17th) and Autumn (October 25th).

This is your chance to meet up with like-minded vintage and classic vehicle enthusiasts, have breakfast and admire the cars and motorbikes on show. The Motoring Village will open at 9.00am and the rest of the Museum will be open as usual from 10am. Subject to weather, Test Hill will be in action after breakfast with a briefing at 10.15am.

It will be first come, first served, so arrive early enough in your classic and you will be able to park in the Paddock, with lots more parking just outside the Paddock. All cars are welcome to park on site until 9:30am, after which normal visitor car parking can be used.

Breakfast will be served in our Sunbeam Café AND the Vickers Suite from 8am - 9.45am Last tickets for the breakfast are sold on the gate at 9:30.

All cars for the Breakfast are welcome to enter the Museum via the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road.

All prices include breakfast and entry into the Museum.

Austin and Morris cars parked up on the banking

Join us as we welcome all types of Austin & Morris vehicles to the historic site. The Classic Cars will be on display in and around the Paddock, with Test Hill in action, a cavalcade on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit and group photo on the Members’ Banking.

Parking for visitors in non-Austin and Morris cars will be in our main visitor car park at Mercedes-Benz World and in The Heights off Wellington Way (please follow event signage), normal Museum admission prices applying.

Mini Cooper on Brooklands Banking

Brooklands Mini Day

From the oldest to the newest, this year’s event will see some of the earliest examples nestling among hundreds of Minis and their variations including vans and pickups. As always Test Hill will be in action(subject to weather).

There will be a variety of trade stands offering mini parts, spares and memorabilia.

Minis will enter the site via the Campbell Entrance off Brooklands Road, with visitors in non-Minis parking in The Heights off Wellington Way - please follow event signage.

Come and join us as we welcome MGs of all ages to this annual event. There will be action on Test Hill, a Concours d’Elegance and a cavalcade on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit.

Parking for MGs only on the Museum site - access through the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road (the B374). Visitor parking will be in The Heights off Wellington Way or in our usual car park at Mercedes-Benz World.

London Bus Museum 42nd Spring Gathering

  • 19 April 2015 10am-5pm

The show is expected to attract up to 200 visiting buses and coaches, old and new, from London and all over the UK. There will be heritage bus trips, a huge selection of stalls and collectors market and, subject to operational conditions, visitors will be able to experience a ride on a horse bus.

All the Brooklands Museum attractions and displays will be open including cars, motor bikes, bicycles and aircraft.
