The Bexhill museum was started in 1914 by a small group of dedicated enthusiasts who specialised in natural history, archaeology and ethnography. It has since developed into a fascinating and comprehensive collection. It gives incredible insight into the history of Bexhill, its famous residents and visitors, and the impotent historic milestones that have made Bexhill internationally famous. The museum is an ideal place for adults and children alike. To discover history and journey through time.

Dinosaurs - Over one hundred and thirty million years ago iguanodon a huge plant eating dinosaur, ten metres and long and weighing 2 tons roamed Bexhill. Fossil dinosaur and teeth bones and foot prints are on display at the museum and new examples are still regularly being found in and around Bexhill.

Lace

Drawing Museum Lace Display

Drawing Museum Lace by Teresa Whitfield is a display of intricate white ink drawings of historic lace from museum collections across the UK; includes a drawing of a Honiton lace collar from the Bexhill Museum collection which will be exhibited next to a display case containing the original Honiton lace collar.

Bexhill Remembers

Exploring Bexhill’s contribution to the Great War, and discovering what life was like for soldiers, nurses, refugees and civilians in the resort, during the war. Featuring costume, social history & military artefacts as well as local history and oral history and hands on resources for children and families.

A diverse programme of events will accompany the exhibition throughout the year including guided walks, lectures and children’s activities and workshops.
