Sheringham is a small town on the northern coast of the county of Norfolk, in England. Sheringham Museum's collections reflect the towns development from a small fishing village specializing in crabs and whelks in the 19th Century, to a fashionable holiday destination for families arriving by railway in the early 20th Century. Sheringham also has a long heritage of lifesaving by the towns lifeboats from the early 1800's to the present, as a result of which the museum holds a nationally important collection of early lifeboats.
