A local history museum for the Welwyn Hatfield District, housed in the former Miller's House dating back to the sixteenth century. Three galleries housing local artefacts or temporary exhibitions.
Adjacent to the museum is a fully restored, working, eighteenth century corn mill powered by the River Lea. Milling every week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Mill Green organic flour on sale.
Jubilee garden with picnic tables, knot garden and herb trail. Riverside setting.

Admission charges

Entry to the grounds is FREE but adults will be charged £2.50 to enter the museum. Children under 16 FREE.
Entry for one adult accompanying a child on a booked activity (£4.00+) FREE.
Children must have a parent or guardian on the premises at all times during their visit, unless otherwise stated.
We have tea and coffee facilities for parents and grandparents to enjoy. Children like our hot chocolate, too!

Our resources room is open on Thursday mornings between 10:00 and 12 noon, or other times by appointment. You can browse through old photographs, search local history information files or just chat to our volunteer local history enthusiasts who staff the facility.

Where Do You Think You Live?

3 January — 11 March 2012 *on now

Between September 2010 and August 2011 the Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust ran a project in the town to encourage residents to learn about the history and development of the town since its foundation. The project gathered oral histories, photographs and research materials - examples of which are on display in this exhibition.

Young Archaeologists' Club (YAC)

The Hatfield branch of the Young Archaeologists' Club is hosted by Mill Green Museum and Mill. Meetings are held on the 3rd weekend of every month (excluding December and Summer holidays) for various archaeological and historical activities and explorations, including trips to places of historical interest.

How to obtain
