Chameleons changing color, a giant squid and reaction tips from nervous houseflies are visiting the Horniman Museum this Spring in a vast exhibition of robot animals.

Most of the beasts on display are larger than lifesize, boasting 18ft tentacles, 10ft wings and a giraffe whose head and neck alone are 9ft tall.

There’s a chance to take a look at the guts of the visiting animals, revealing shock absorbers, pumps, machine parts and gadgets in a hands-on show.

The flamboyantly-coloured exhibition will also explain how eight different species have prospered in different environments.
